Cinco De Mayo Salsa

We asked two of the Mika Chica's on the team, Martha & Rossy, if they could teach us how to make legit salsa & boy did they deliver. The girls bring you Salsa Roja (inspired by Rossy's esposo) & Salsa Verde (inspired by Martha's suegra). 

Salsa Roja

Ingredients

2 tomatoes

large handful of dried chilies  

quarter of white onion

quarter of vegitable bouillon cube  

1-2 cloves of garlic

water (eyeball this)

cilantro

salt


Directions

Boil Onion & dried chilies to lightly soften them

Blister tomatoes in a sauce pan 

Peel tomatoe skin  

In blender, place onion, chilies, peeled tomatoes, cilantro, boullion cube, chopped garlic & desired amount of salt & water. Blend!

Serve & garnish with fresh cilantro

 

Salse Verde

Ingredients

2 tomatoes

3-5 jalapeños (depending on size)

1 avocado  

quarter of white onion

1-2 cloves of garlic

cilantro


Directions

Boil onion to soften

In saucepan, blister jalapeños & tomatoes

Peel jalapeños & tomatoe skin & chop

In a molcajete, grind onion, jalapeños  & garlic

Add tomatoes & grind away

Cut avocado in little squares, gently incorporate into salsa

Add desired amount of cilantro & salt
