Barre classes combine a mixture of strength training and stretch. To match both components, I find it essential that my music inspire adrenaline pumping excitement, and soothing, sinking, relaxation. During the toning portions of the class, I prefer songs with strong and fast beats. The stretch portion of class I include a mix of meditation, folk, and soul.
Particular to my class you can guarantee that there will be a song or twoβ¦or three, coming from Latin America. I donβt know if itβs my years of Zumba instruction, or if I always had a propensity towards Latin music, but it will be in there.
I also love adding in some less known musicians because it creates an instant connection with students who happen to be fans of the artist as well.
