Saving The Planet, One Pooch At A Time

How can your furry friend reduce its eco-”paw” print?

Easy!

By eating a plant based diet.

This simple, in-expensive, DELICIOUS, vegan dog food recipe has made my pup happy, reduced her eco-pawprint, helped her allergies, and kept her extremely active for three years and many more to come.

Prep Time: 10 Min.

Total Time: 1 Hr. 10 Min.

INGREDIENTS: (I used all organic)

  • Two Large Sweet Potatoes

  • 1 Can of black beans (garbanzo, pinto, kidney, and lentils are okay also)

  • 2 Cups of BROWN rice

  • 10 Small carrots, or 2 medium carrots

  • 1 Cup of unsweetened cranberries

  • ½ Cup of Peanut Butter

  • 1 Tbsp. of Nutritional yeast

  • 2 Bananas (optional)

  • ¼ cup of pumpkin seeds (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Stab the sweet potatoes about 9 times with a fork on one side. (this allows it to breathe while baking) Bake Sweet Potatoes (stabbed side up) for 50-55 minutes, until soft.

  2. Put rice on stove and let cook for time provided on package.

  3. Cut carrots into small chunks, about the size of regular dog pellets) and put into a large storing container or bowl. Mix in Cranberries.

  4. Rinse the san of beans, put beans into mix.

  5. Let the rice and sweet potatoes cool for 10 minutes.

  6. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut into 1 in. chunks. Add Rice and Sweet potatoes to mix.

  7. Add peanut butter. Mix. Sprinkle Nutritional yeast over all other ingredients.

  8. Serve! About 1 ½ cup is what I give my dog twice a day, a total of 3 cups a day. (morning and night)

  9. Refrigerate leftovers.

Eating plant based is Veterinarian approved:

-Dogs can be healthy and in fact, thrive on a vegan diet.

- One of the most common ailments in dogs is skin allergies, which may sometimes be due to food allergy; Much of the time a dog has a food allergy it is to a meat protein.

- A plant-based diet may bring these food allergic dogs relief from their skin allergies.

Did you know:

- If everyone in America ate a plant based meal just one day out of the week, it would be like taking 500,000 cars off the road.

- You would save more water by not eating a pound of beef than you would if you didn’t shower for 6 months.

- Animal agriculture is a leading source of  carbon-dioxide, nitrous-oxide, and methane emissions. In fact, raising animals for food contributes more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere then all of the cars, planes, trains, and ships in the world combined.

Now that we have established how big of an impact you and your pooch have on this place we call home, make the change. After all, there is no Planet B.
